Louise S. Crews, 87, of Overland Park, KS passed away October 17, 2016 at the Hospice House of Olathe, where she resided the final two weeks of her life. She battled cancer for seventeen months.
Louise was born on January 9, 1929 in Birmingham, AL to Earl O’Rear Crews and Virginia Mae
(Breashears) Crews. She was the youngest of six children. She was raised by her grandparents, Tom and Lodeene Lindsey in Springfield, MO from the early age of eighteen months until college. In the late 1950’s she moved to California with her mother to be near her brothers. In 1998, she moved to Overland Park, KS to be near her sister.
Louise is survived by many nephews and nieces, who kept in regular contact with her, even though her siblings were adopted by other families.
She accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 13 and at the age of 15 she began teaching young children in Sunday school class in Springfield MO. She also taught children in Sunday School in Pasadena CA. Louise was a member of Overland Park Church of the Nazarene where she taught the 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School class from 1999 until her cancer diagnosis in 2015. Her “Kids”, whether from Pasadena CA or Overland Park KS, remained in contact with her on a regular basis and loved her dearly. She enjoyed telling people about her Savior through her final weeks of life. She will be missed by many friends who loved the way she lived life to the fullest. For a tribute to her life, listen to the song “Thank You” by Ray Boltz. Some of her favorite scriptures in the Holy Bible are Jeremiah 29:11-13 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
