Lowell John Wolverton, 90, of Overland Park passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center from respiratory complications.
Funeral service will be Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Mr. Wolverton was born February 6, 1917 in Moline, KS. His work included the position of fireman on the Santa Fe Railroad from 1939 through 1947. He then managed restaurants for the next thirty years in the Kansas City area. He ended his working career as Security Guard for the Johnson County National Bank in Prairie Village, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Wolverton and Patsy Meldora Wolverton, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Lillian G. Wolverton; daughter, Laurie L. Thompson and son, Charles D. Wolverton. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Elizabeth Falke, Kurt Thompson, Jeff Thompson, and Sean Wolverton and six great grandchildren.
