Loyal D. ?L.D.? Austin
Loyal D. Austin, known as ?L.D.?, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from cancer.
L.D. was born in Okemah, Oklahoma, June 25, 1933. He served in the National Guard until 1951 and settled his family in DeSoto, Kansas in 1966. L.D. was a builder and superintendent in the Kansas City area. Upon retiring he had a small motor and lawn mower repair service in his home in DeSoto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison O. Austin and Nettie J. Cochran/Parks; brothers, Doyle and Norman ?Babe? Austin. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hellen L. Austin; children, Patricia Keehn and husband Robin of DeSoto, Evelyn Smith and husband Bill of Olathe, Jim Austin and wife Tami of Overland Park. L.D. had 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 11, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m., at D. W. Newcomers Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Services will be conducted on Monday, August 11th , at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7845 Allman, Lenexa, KS., visitation at 9:30, services at 10:30. Internment will be in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, KS.
