Lucille ?Ceil? B. Johnson passed away peacefully at her home at The Neighborhood at Tellico Village in Loudon, Tennessee surrounded by her family on March 11, 2007 shortly before her 90th birthday. She was born March 29, 1917 in Webb City, Missouri to Eva Craig and Oscar Burnard Snider, next to the last of ten children.
She met and married her greatest friend, companion, and soulmate, Walter L. Johnson at West Side Christian Church, Kansas City, Missouri on September 5, 1937. When Walt started his own advertising agency, Ceil was his helpmate and bookkeeper until their retirement in 1990. In 1954 they joined Calvary Lutheran Church at 75th and Oak where both volunteered their services for many years. Ceil also did bookkeeping for Calvary Lutheran Day School, as well as being a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. In 1989, they moved to Overland Park, Kansas transferring their membership to Bethany Lutheran Church. Ceil enjoyed time with family and friends and trips to Lake of the Ozarks. Walt died in 1992, ten days after their 55th wedding anniversary.
Ceil is survived by a son, James B. Johnson, wife Mary, of Kansas City, Missouri, and two daughters, Patricia Eppinger, husband Howard, Loudon, Tennessee, and Judy Dean, husband William, Shawnee, Kansas. From these unions are six granddaughters and two grandsons; four great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters. Preceding her in death was granddaughter, Cheri Eppinger in 1991.
We dearly thank and appreciate the people at The Neighborhood at Tellico Village for all the help, love, support and kindness they showed Ceil in assisted living, as well as her family, during her last days.
A celebration of Ceil?s life and short memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29th at D. W. Newcomers? Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, with Pastor Ed Trost of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating.
