Lucia "Lucy" Chiavola Rice, Age 91, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Olathe Hospice House. Lucy was born on October 22, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to James and Lillian Chiavola.
Lucy was the life of the party, celebrating every moment. She loved all things Italian, from Frank Sinatra to a stiff drink. She built a successful business from the ground up to support her family. She cared deeply for others, having never met a stranger, and shared her love through baking.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Delores Grantello. She is survived by her son, James G. Donahue and his wife Maria, her daughter Cheryl L. Donahue Plas and her husband Frank, her grandchildren Michael Plas and his wife Mary Joy, James Plas and his wife Diane, Laura Poland and her husband David, Joseph Plas and his wife Jennifer, Lucia Wiser and her husband John, Lisa Szablewski and her husband Jeffrey, and Caterina Shipley and her husband Wade, and her 14 great-grandchildren.
