Lucille was born and raised in Ardmore, OK until she moved to Norman, OK (O.U.) to attend college. She graduated with a degree in Home Economics June 6, 1938 and soon got her first job as the Home Service Director at Oklahoma Gas Service Co. moving to Oklahoma City. After 3 years in Wichita, they moved to a different bank in Kansas City.
In early 1956 after 13 years of marriage they decided to adopt, bringing home a 6 month old boy naming him Arch T. Wheeler III after her husband and father-in-law.
In 1960 they pooled their savings, borrowed from family and bought a bank in Sarasota, FL living there until the bank was bought out in 1968 prompting a move back to Kansas City to enjoy life as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lucille enjoyed civic responsibility, manning PTA booths, Boy Scout, and Little League fundraisers. She was a member of the board of the historic Oslo Theatre in Sarasota and a charter member and leader of Bankers Wives.
