Luella Berry went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2008, after a brief stay at the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Center.
Luella was born November 6, 1941, in Trenton, Missouri to Raymond and Emogene Lockridge. Luella grew up on a farm near Jamesport, Missouri and came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young girl. She graduated from Bob Jones University in 1963 and worked as an executive secretary at Business Men?s Assurance Company. After the birth of her children, she became a homemaker. Luella was active in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, ladies Bible study leader, organist, and nursery worker. She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading, traveling, and being a grandma. She has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Luella is survived by her husband of 43 years, David L. Berry, daughters Rhonda Hensarling (David) of Olathe, and Eileen Berry of Greenville, South Carolina. She also leaves three grandchildren, Natalie, Seth and Daniel Hensarling. She is survived by brothers Dale Lockridge (Delores) of Corydon, Iowa, and Earl Lockridge (Martha) of Lincoln, Nebraska, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Berean Bible Church, 16000 Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at the church.
