Mrs. Luetta Sheehan

November 20, 1940 — October 7, 2010

LUETTA SHEEHAN

Luetta Sheehan died in her sleep Thursday October 7th after a long and difficult illness, she was 69. She was a joy to have as a mother, spouse and a treasure for her six grandchildren. As a role model she taught us to be caring and giving, to put others first and to have a strong faith.

Luetta married her High School sweetheart Jim and they shared 46 glorious years together. She spent her life centered on her Family, Art, and Church.
For 30 years she dedicated her time to the decorating of Holy Cross Church, Chairman of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, Chairman of Hospital visitations, as well as assisting in Baptisms and Funerals. Lu was a member of the Johnson County Serra Club and an Associate of the Ursuline Sisters of Paola.
Early on, Lu found that she had a passion and talent for the Arts. In 1959 she accepted a position at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City and continued to amaze family and friends with her many styles of painting and drawings. Her greatest pleasure was to draw portraits of her grandchildren and decorate her house for every holiday.

She had a soft smile, sparkling eyes, and a kind word for everyone she met.

Luetta is survived by her three children Kevin, Kathy Cattoor Sheehan and Chris, six grandchildren and her sister Trude Bowen and brother Jerry Sperke.

Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Overland Park on Sunday October 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Rosary will be said at 7:00. Funeral is scheduled for Monday October 11th at 10:30 at Holy Cross. In lieu of flowers Lu has asked for donations to be made to “The Little Sisters of the Lamb.” Community of the Lamb 36, South Boeke St. Kansas City KS 66101.
