Lynn Kormann, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2016, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born on June 3, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry and Elizabeth Loehrer. She grew up in a large, loving family with three sisters and two brothers.
After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in Education, she moved to Kansas City to begin work at Hallmark Cards. In Kansas City, she met her husband, Scott Kormann, and the two were married on August 16th, 1986.
Lynn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching her children play sports. She loved the little things in life, and some of her happiest moments were spent dancing and singing karaoke after neighborhood get-togethers. Some of her other hobbies included sewing, cooking, and reading. She loved animals and had a true passion for her family pets.
Lynn lived life to the fullest and maintained her sense of humor and passion for life even through the most difficult times. A woman of great determination and personal strength, Lynn’s unwillingness to give up is an inspiration to her family, friends, and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation will be 5:30 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22nd, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23rd, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 W. 137th Street, Overland Park, KS.
Survivors include husband, Scott, and children, Nick and Elizabeth, of Overland Park, KS; sisters, Pat Byrne and Carol Brawley, and brother, Dennis Loehrer, of St. Louis, Missouri; mother-in-law, Audrinne Kormann, sister-in-law Cindy Holland, and brother-in-law Tim Kormann, of New Richland, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gene Loehrer, her sister, Janet Geno, and her father-in-law, Jerry Kormann.
We want to thank all of the incredible nurses and doctors at the KU Medical Center, as well as the amazing Hospice care providers. The family suggests contributions in Lynn’s name to the American Cancer Society.
