Mable S. Gable, 90, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at University Hospital, Columbia, MO.
Mable was born May 17, 1923, in Kansas City, KS, to Wilbur and Ida (Coleman) White. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1942. Mable married Lee Gable on June 5, 1943. She was primarily a homemaker and helped her husband, Lee, with his accounting business. She spent several years as an AARP volunteer helping to establish chapters throughout Kansas and served on the Kansas Medical Foundation Board. Mable loved family activities and travel. She and Lee visited 49 of the 50 states, driving to Alaska and only missing Hawaii. Mable's outgoing personality, contagious laugh and loving spirit will be always remembered and greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Lee Gable, her parents and grandson, Kirk Odom.
Mable is survived by her two daughters, Anita Towns and Connie Gable; two sons-in-law, Lex Towns and Doug Bruce; four grandchildren, Hale Towns and wife, Molly, Janelle Albright, Kyle Odom and Courtney Odom; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
