Manijeh Zandi, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on March 21, 2018 at her home. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 PM with memorial service at 3 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, OP, KS.
Manijeh was born December 17, 1945 in Tehran, Iran. Manijeh later became an American Citizen. She received her teaching degree which was both her first career, and how she approached all elements of her life. She studied art and became an accomplished artist. She was artistic in every way. She began teaching her son at a very young age, and eventually her granddaughter as well. She was an extraordinary painter, illustrator, seamstress, and needle worker. These skills led her to what would become a 25-year career with Walmart. She started in the fabric department and was continuously promoted and honored throughout her tenure until she eventually retired. Her home was always fresh and vibrant with beautiful plants and flowers, as she had an auspicious green-thumb. Being an outstanding horticulturist, she grew all of her own vegetables and herbs for her kitchen. She was a gourmet cook, always creating incredible dishes to deliver to others, or to serve at her ostentatious parties that she would host.
To know Manijeh meant to always have your stomach full of incredible food, a smile on your face, and to always learn something new.
Manijeh is preceded in death by her parents, Ali and Aziz Zandi.
She is survived by her son, Nima (Nicole); granddaughter, Milani; brothers, Bijan (Gabi), Homayoun (Manijeh), and Farshid (Sohyla); sisters, Bahar (Amir), Homa (Ahmad), and Mitra (Abbas); nieces: Laleh, Shabnam, Zarnas, Nasim, Nastaran, Nazanin, Raha, and Neeloofar; and nephews: Vahid, Navid, Shahram, and Ali.
