Manuel "Manny" Hernandez Jr., 36, Olathe, KS., passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2011. A visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to his charity of choice, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 920 Main St., Suite 280, Kansas City, MO 64105.
Manny was born Nov. 16, 1974, in Omaha, Neb. He is survived by his parents, Manuel Hernandez Sr. and Patricia Ann Hernandez of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister, Khristine Miner of Bellevue, Neb.; nephew, Nicholas Thomas of Council Bluffs; and niece, Sarah (Jeffrey) Taylor and their children Taylor Baldwin and Cheyenne Taylor, all of Fort Riley, Kan.
A 1997 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Manny was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and also enjoyed NASCAR races with his father and Chiefs tailgating with his friends.
Manny was a great son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also a dedicated and well respected employee of Lansing Trade Group. Manny will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
