Margaret Evelyn Rasmussen Dyas passed away Friday, February 20, 2008. Marge was loved by everyone who ever met her. She entertained us all for endless hours with family stories that have become family legends. Marge and her loving husband Kenneth, would jump in the land yacht for two week family vacations loaded to the gills with kids, snacks, luggage, and enough Life Savers to nourish a third world nation. When Kenny died in 1974, Marge returned to college to become a computer programmer and worked for Old American Insurance Company. Marge continued to satisfy her wanderlust, eventually visiting five of the seven continents.
Marge was a 15 year survivor of Ovarian cancer, but she was more than a survivor, Marge knew how to live life to the fullest. She loved spending time with her children Carla Orner, Elaine Vernon, and Bruce Dyas. She adored her grandchildren and would spend countless hours playing cribbage, assembling jigsaw puzzles while continuing to entertain us all with family legends. There will be a giant hole in our lives but we know she has gone home and will greet us when we all join her for eternity.
A celebration of Marge’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22nd at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue. A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the chapel, preceding the service.
