Margaret (Peg) Fuller of Leawood, KS passed away on April 10, 2007. Margaret was born on August 19, 1915, in Batesville, Mississippi, the only daughter of John Reed and Vashti Wilson. She attended the University of Tennessee, receiving her first degree in Home Economics. Soon, however, she read an article about Occupational Therapy and determined to seek her second degree. She boarded a bus for Philadelphia and entered school in Pennsylvania. There, she met and married her husband of 55 years, Robert W. Fuller.
During World War II, Margaret practiced as an Occupational Therapist in Army hospitals. After her four children were born, however, she became a full-time mother who returned to work when her children neared college age. She worked in the burn unit at the University of Kansas Medical Center until her retirement, introducing innovative splinting applications to reduce the scarring of burn patients and traveling with the burn team to teach at facilities throughout Kansas.
As a mom, Margaret never brought attention to herself but instead focused her energies entirely on family, friends, and in her church. She never missed one of her children?s wrestling matches, baseball, soccer or football games or orchestra performances; she was always available to help with homework or sew a prom dress. Later in life, she cherished the opportunities of attending her grandchildrens? dance recitals and sporting events, going on family vacations and reading to each grandchild separately. In addition to her family, she loved to play bridge. Thank you to the many people who played with her and brought her such joy.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Fuller, who died July 4, 2006. She is survived by daughter Susan Robin and her husband Sidney of Austin, Texas, and by three sons, Jeff Fuller, Paola, KS; Jack Fuller and wife, Laurie; and Reed Fuller and wife Sherry all of Overland Park; grandchildren Brett, Berkeley, Chad, Megan, Ali, Colby, Lindsey, Whitney, Kelsey, Mackenzie; and two great-grandchildren Tristan and Cash.
