Margaret Holmes-Crookham

Margaret L. Holmes-Crookham, 91, Leawood, KS, passed away June 28, 2015, with her family by her side.
Margaret was born to Joseph and Nannie Boehm on December 19, 1923 in Kansas City. After meeting her first husband, Alfred Earl Holmes (Earl) at a WWII bomber manufacturing plant, Margaret married to Earl on October 14, 1943 in Kansas City. Margaret was a devoted mother, supportive wife and wonderful cook while Earl worked as a partner in Nathan Trotter Insurance Agency. In 1954 Margaret and Earl moved to Overland Park, KS where they had wonderful memories of family and friends around the home pool until Earl died in 1983. In 1986, Margaret met her second husband, Ralph Crookham, who was a retired United States Postal Service worker. Margaret and Ralph joined the Trailblazers Travel Club and traveled all over the United States and the world including Europe, China, Russia and Africa until Ralph’s death in 2000. Margaret often said how blessed she was to have been married to two wonderful men and to have been able to visit so many places throughout her life.
Margaret enjoyed playing the piano, bowling and socializing. During her lifetime, Margaret was fortunate to have many wonderful family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her later life.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, her husbands Earl and Ralph, and her daughter Donna. Survivors include her grandson, Brandt Cameron Wible, M.D. and his wife, Helen Jang Wible of Leawood, Kansas, granddaughters, Brandi Elise Simmons of Branson, Missouri and Tanya Marie Marmon of Phoenix, Arizona, plus great-grandchildren, Brayden Jang Wible, Brighton Jang Wible, and Brienna Lorae Simmons with her great-great granddaughter Camyrn Marie Hickison.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66210.
