Margaret Houlder

Surrounded by her three daughters, Margaret Houlder, 95, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2021.
A celebration to honor Margaret's life will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021,1pm at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall Ave, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will follow the service.

Margaret was born on July 3,1926 in Youngsville, NC to Luther and Aurelia Hagwood. She graduated from Youngsville High School and North Carolina Business School. In January of 1948, she married Charles Houlder in Raleigh, North Carolina. They moved their young family to Overland Park, Kansas in 1969, however Margaret never forgot her southern roots.  She was a devoted mother, and for many years, she stayed home raising their three girls.

She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, traveling and long walks throughout the neighborhood. Her garden was impeccable with beautiful hydrangeas, lilies, roses and crepe myrtle bushes.  Many hours were spent volunteering at her church and in the friendship garden. In her 90's, she cared for her great granddaughters, took care of her home, played bridge, took classes at the Apple store and volunteered at her church and garden clubs.

Margaret is survived by her three daughters: Nancy Houlder of Wilmington, NC, Carol Winter (Brian) of Olathe, KS, Jane Rodewald McLean (Neil) of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren and four great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-seven years, five siblings and son-in law, Bill Bloch.

Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
