Margaret Richards

April 26, 1929 — August 9, 2010

Margaret M. Richards of Overland Park, Kan., went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 9, 2010, and with her husband Jack, who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1997. They were married for 46 years. Margaret was born on April 26, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., and lived in California until 1975. Prior to her marriage on March 7, 1952, Margaret worked as a Secretary at Mobil Oil Corporation in Los Angeles. Jack and Margaret met at a USO dance at Edward's Air Force Base in California in 1948. In September of 1952, her husband Jack, who had been honorably discharged after four years in the US Air Force, joined her at Mobil working in the Payroll Department. Jack and Margaret and their two daughters moved to Overland Park in 1975 when Mobil Oil transferred Jack to Kansas City. Margaret was a member of Olathe Bible Church. She would like to be remembered for her ever deep and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She would like to leave behind a heart filled with love for her family, which was the center of her and Jack's life. They always felt blessed that God gave them two such loving and caring daughters and again blessed them with the gift of two very special sons-in-law. Their cup ran over with their five grandchildren, who were the joy of their lives, but only Margaret got to know the great grandchildren. Margaret hopes when she sees her Lord, he will say "Well done good and faithful servant." She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Ann Batliner and husband Dennis and Cynthia Ann Kolenda and husband Robert; five grandchildren who called her MeMe, Anne Batliner, Brian Batliner, Sgt. Kevin Kolenda USMC, Corporal Justin Kolenda USMC and Bethany Kolenda and two great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Ruby Marie. There will be a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Olathe Bible Church, 13700 W. 151st Terrace, Olathe, KS 66062. Burial will be private at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, where Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
