Margaret Joan Ruch is now walking with the Lord. She died peacefully On May 2, 2024 at Colonial Oaks assisted living facility in Springhill Kansas. She is survived by her children H.Rod Ruch, Jane Danforth and Renee (Wells) Haren. Grandchildren include Justin Villarreal, Joel Villarreal, Charles Haren, Maggie (Ben) Host. Great grandchildren Laura Villarreal, Haley Villarreal, Woods Haren, Bear Host, Betty Host and Waylen Host.
Margaret Joan was born on March 21, 1929 in St Joseph, Missouri to Charles and Margaret Crowe. Margaret always went by her middle name Joan.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Harold Ruch of 62 years. Others that have preceded her are her parents Charles and Margaret Crowe, brother Charles Crowe, and her beloved grandson, Jason Villarreal.
Joan lived most of her young life in St Joseph, Missouri. She attended Central High School and went on to get her Associates degree in business at the St Joseph Junior College. Later she married Harold Ruch her High School sweetheart, on July 15th, 1952.
After moving to Kansas City with her husband she worked as an administrative assistant at Hallmark Cards. Joan and Harold lived a good part of their lives in Prairie Village, raising their family. Joan worked at Capitol Federal after the children were grown and in school. She often referred to working for Capitol Federal as one of her favorite career choices. Harold changed careers and moved to Marysville Kansas and Joan followed her husband to make a home there. Joan worked part time at the Nursing Home in Marysville as an assistant to the director. Harold retired in 1990 they both moved back to Overland Park, Kansas to be close to their children.
Joan was a lifetime member of the DAR,Sagamore Chapter, and chaired many positions including preserving historical buildings. She was also a patient advocate volunteer at Overland Park Regional Hospital for many years. Joan and Harold were both very active members of Cherokee Christian Church.
Joan will always be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always so proud and supportive of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed her families birthdays. She was a social outgoing person with compassion for people. She had a special place in her heart for all animals.
Before meeting anyone she had to be dressed, hair fixed and lipstick on. She had an infectious smile and was never short of conversation.
Joan’s hobbies included golfing, reading, cooking for her family and friends. She was a huge fan of the Royals and the Chiefs. She was also known as a very talented artist and Joan sketched and painted many drawings of her family and grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be at 1:00 Tuesday 5/14/24 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210.Visitation for family and friends will be at 12:00 Tuesday May 14th at the Chapel.Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 13901 Black bob Road Olathe Kansas, 66062.
