Mrs. Maria Schneider

Maria Theresia Schneider went to be with our Lord on April 28, 2012. Born on February 18, 1919 in Brendlorenzen Germany to Franz Friedrich Schafer and Dorothea Schafer. They were were poor but happy people trying to raise there children in-spite of the turmoil that Adolf Hitler was about to bestow on the German people. Maria finished high school and some college before the bombing of Germany began. She met the love of her life Hans Schneider, who was in the German army, were married and then separated by war. Hans was captured by the Russians and was in Siberia in a prison camp for 2 1/2 years. He survived and returned home to Maria to have two sons Peter and Michael. The family immigrated to the United States in 1951 and proudly became citizens in1957. Maria was a homemaker and an excellent pastry chef to which a lot of people will miss! She worked three jobs at once, one being at the Kansas City Country Club. Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hans, two brothers and five sisters who are all united again. She leaves behind sons Peter (wife Jan), Michael (wife Janet), grandchildren Aaron (wife Michelle), Jesse, Anissa (husband Michael) and Jennifer. Also two great grandchildren Ella and Marcus and numerous nieces and nephews in Europe and the U.S. Visitation will be May 4, at 9:00 a.m. prior to The Mass of the Resurrection which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson Rd. Shawnee Mission Ks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to st. Pius X Church.
