Marian Augusta (Parmley) Kuhl was born May 29th, 1926 outside of Mineral Point, Wisconsin. During her childhood her family moved throughout southwestern Wisconsin settling in the Watertown/Oconomowoc area. The family dairy farm provided plenty of work for Marian and her three siblings; and there were hard times for the family, as for so many others during the Great Depression. The love within the family kept everyone together. She graduated High School in Oconomowoc and went to work as a secretary. During her twenties she moved to Denver, Colorado for a few years and eventually moved back to Wisconsin to the great pleasure of her father.
While working in Milwaukee at the Extension office for the University of Wisconsin she met William (Bill) Kuhl, a PhD student and later Assistant Professor at the University in Madison. Following their marriage, which lasted for 48 years until Bill’s death in 2006, they moved to the Kansas City area. While watching their two sons, Albert and Bill, grow up Marian worked part time in the Shawnee Mission School District and at Atonement Lutheran Church. In addition to those activities she loved attending sporting events and school activities (particularly band and choir concerts) that her sons, and later grandchildren, participated in.
Marian was an incredibly loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her sense of humor and honesty will be deeply missed. She leaves behind her son Albert Kuhl and daughter-in-law Debora in Overland Park, Kansas, their 4 children and 2 grandchildren, as well as son Bill and daughter-in- law Randi, also in Overland Park. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Wilma Parmley, and her husband William Kuhl.
