Marian Elizabeth Nielsen of Prairie Village, KS died peacefully at the age of 93 with her family by her side at her daughter’s home on August 10, 2020. She was a long time member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Prairie Village and formerly Zion Lutheran Church before it closed. She was very active in her church serving on the altar guild and cooking for various church functions. Marian was preceded in death by her loving husband, E. Leonard Nielsen in 2001 and her step-son, Eric Nielsen in 2017. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Sonya Kerschen (Alan) of Asheville, NC, Yvonne Berard (Jim) of Overland Park,Melanie Becker of Leawood and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Nielsen of Lawrence. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Mother was an accountant most of her life and after “retiring” to care for grandchildren at age 58, went back to work part time in various offices until the age of 87. She loved being around people, entertaining in her home and sewing (especially her beautiful Christmas stockings for each child born into the family.) Mom and Dad lived a simple life but loved traveling the beautiful areas of our country.
