Marilyn L. Corkran of Olathe, Kansas, passed away at home surrounded by her family on February 10, 2008, due to cancer at the age of 75.
She was born in Iola, Kansas, April 18, 1932, to Walter and Gertrude Wright. She spent most of her life in the Kansas City area, graduating from Central High School. She had numerous careers as a bookkeeper, travel consultant and tanning salon owner. Other interests besides her family include travel, shopping and gambling.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Erwin "Sonny" D. Carson and her grandson, Casey Carson. She leaves behind her husband, L. Keith Corkran; sons Mark and his wife, Janet and their three sons; Greg and his wife, April and their son; and her daughter, Jana and her husband, Patrick Lathrop, with their two children; along with her three stepchildren, Debbie Sawyer, Dan and Barbara Corkran. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 13th 9:00 ? 10:00 a.m. at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Following the visitation, a celebration of Marilyn?s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in honor of Marilyn?s grandson, Casey, to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 5799 Broadmoor, Mission, Kansas 66202.
