Marilyn P (Nett) Nelsen, age 93 of Overland Park Kansas, passed away on Palm Sunday, March 24,2024 at Trustwell Living Facility Overland Park, KS.   Marilyn was born on July 31, 1930 to Benedict and Esther (Johnson) Nett in Chicago, IL. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.  She was an only child.

She grew up in Chicago and graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1947.  She attended Dekalb Illinois Teacher College for one year.  She met her one true love while they attended the same high school and church.  They were married on May 25, 1951 almost 73 years ago.

Marilyn was an accomplished musician playing clarinet in the high school band and playing the piano and organ actively in many churches over the years, beginning as a church pianist at age 15.

She held a variety of jobs – starting as a secretary for a railroad officer right out of high school.  After her children were older, she worked as a school secretary. Later in life – she worked for Radisson Hotels and Montgomery Ward.

Marilyn enjoyed sports.  She played tennis and golf and watched KU basketball and the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.

Marilyn was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God Church and a dedicated follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She deeply loved and was devoted to her family, especially her husband. She will be greatly missed, but one day we will be reunited with her in heaven and rejoice in God’s presence eternally.
