Marjorie Brooks Kernick of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Marjorie was born November 6, 1924 in Kansas City. She attended Roseland School, Shawnee, Mission High School and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business in 1950. Marjorie married Andress Kernick, also a KU graduate, in 1955 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kansas City. They were married 52 years until her passing.
Marjorie worked in Public Accountancy for CPA firms in Kansas City, Lima, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where her husband designed power inverters for the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs at Westinghouse.
Marjorie was passionate in her support of Women?s Rights, protection of animals, Preservation of prairie lands and the right to choose. She worked in various volunteer capacities and contributed to their causes. Marjorie attended the First Baptist Church in Kansas City.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband Andress, sister Mildred Bernice Moody of Atlanta, Georgia, nephew Steven M. Moody of Baltimore, Maryland and nieces Janet Torrence of Peachland, North Carolina and Marcia Dingess of Atlanta, Georgia.
Visitation will be 2:00 ? 3:00 p.m., Thursday April 24 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, with the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church, 100 W. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
