Marjorie Jenree McCaughey was born August 25, 1929. Although she passed on January 29, 2015, her legacy lives on forever in all of our hearts and through all of her deeds.
First and foremost in her life was her complete and constant love for her husband and high school sweetheart, Dr. Hugh McCaughey. She was an inspiration to Hugh all sixty-four years of their marriage. Marjorie & Hugh pursued their college degrees together and had a beautiful life as best friends. Marjorie received a BFA from the University of Kansas and used her artistic talents lovingly in everything she did. Her unconditional love for her three children Mark, Amy (Setter), and Ann (Killen), her very special daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hansing McCaughey and her adored son-in-law, Mark Killen transcended her strength and beauty. Nicknamed “Bubbles” by her dearly loved grandchildren, her memory will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of all of them: David, Matt, John, Kevin, and Georgia. She so cherished her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Macie Gracie.
Marjorie was a designer for Hallmark Cards, a docent at the Nelson-Atkins Museum, and a ten-year member of the Junior League of Kansas City, Kansas. She was president of many organizations including various homes associations and the Phi Delta Theta mothers’ club. Marjorie was a committed school and community volunteer, always offering her unique ideas. With a love for fine food and wine, Marjorie and Hugh enjoyed many European travels, and often dined with their favorite chefs. Whether Marjorie was sharing her creativity or her culinary expertise, she always added special touches that made people feel loved and appreciated. Marjorie lived to give.
Her intuitiveness and wisdom, her grace and charm, her care and compassion, and her quick wit and humor will keep our treasured wife, mother, and grandmother in our hearts and minds forever.
The family deeply appreciates the competent and caring medical care that Marjorie received at Menorah Medical Center.
