Mark Andrew Sabo, 71, of Leawood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Saint Luke’s Hospice House.
Mark was the son of the late Reverend Andrew and Madge Sabo, who started Bethany Lutheran Church. Mark was a graduate of the University of Kansas where he majored in Journalism. Outside of the classroom, Mark hosted a radio show on the University’s radio station, “The Mark and Bob Show.” He was also involved in many student union activities. Upon graduation, he continued to cheer on the Jayhawks basketball and football teams--no matter how good (or bad) the season.
Mark enjoyed a long and successful career with Sosland Publishing Company. His loyalty and hard work led him to accomplish the rare feat of spending his entire career of 43 years with a single company. During his time at the company, Mark managed various lines of its business, pioneered industry-leading techniques, and served on multiple industry boards. He spent the final 29 years as President and retired in 2015. The Company wrote a tribute to Mark on its Baking Business webpage, available here .
Mark was married to Michelle for 36 years and was a loving husband and father of two children. His position with the company gave him the opportunity to travel to places like China and New York for business, but he especially enjoyed travelling with his family to Vail and Scottsdale.
Mark is survived by his wife, Michelle; his sister, Sue Bright; and his two children Matthew Sabo (Lauren) and Elyse Curtin (Grant).
The visitation and private family service times are listed below. The 11:00 am memorial service will be live streamed and can be joined virtually using the following link: cor.org/memorialsonline .
