MARLENE H. FRITZ
Marlene H. Fritz passed away November 19, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center. Marlene was born Dec. 27, 1943, to Alvin and Bertha Halstenberg of Monett, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marlene is survived by her husband Charles, son Steven (Tracey) of Olathe, their children Jacob and Ellie, daughter Dana (Larry Gawel) of Lincoln, NE, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Marlene lived with ALS for nearly 14 years and was an active participant and supporter of ALS support groups in Kansas City. Her friendliness, positive attitude and generosity made her a true inspiration and role model to those who knew her. She and Charles happily shared their ALS coping experiences with others. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road in Prairie Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS Association (ALSA,) Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA,) or the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
