Marlin D. (Ironjaws) Benson, 84, Eldon, MO, passed away September 2, 2009 at his home.
A celebration of Marlin’s life will be at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 8, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. A visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. at the chapel. Entombment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to Flatwoods Baptist Church, 2410 Highway 52, Eldon, MO, 65026. Marlin was born January 29, 1925 in Chillicothe, MO to Marion and Velma Benson. He was a retired engineer from UP Railroad. He was also a WWII Veteran and served as Past Commander of VFW Post #846, Past Quartermaster of VFW Post #846, and Past Department Commander of Department of Kansas VFW.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Mary F. Benson. He is survived by his wife Deborah Benson, children, Ellen Keen, M. Lee Benson, Sharla Simmons and Marlo Benson. Step children John David Bratton, Jenny Bratton and Angela Whitley; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; and one sister Armalee Haas.
