Marlin Howard was 84 years old upon his death and was born on May 10, 1932 in Richland, KS., son of Claude and Gladys Howard. He graduated from Overbrook High School, Overbrook, KS.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon honorable discharge he began working at the USDA in Topeka, KS where he met his future wife Nonavee whom he married in 1957. Later he had the opportunity to join Santa Fe Railroad where he worked until his retirement. Marlin took pride in his career of 30 years, but truly enjoyed the friends he made during his time with Santa Fe.
Marlin was active in many groups. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Overbrook, KS, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Lenexa, KS and also the American Legion.
He had a passion for gardening, traveling and is well known for telling jokes, some of them even clean. He was generous and always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He will be most remembered for his generosity, humor and being an honest man.
Marlin is survived by his wife Nonavee, son Mark Howard and his companion Colette Tesar, his daughter Marla McCain and her husband James, grandchildren, Michael and Alex Howard and Taylor McCain. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and close life-long friends.
