Martha Chambers

Martha “Tarkie” Lynette Chambers, 90, passed away July 3, 2021 at her home in Lenexa, KS. Martha was born August 23, 1930 in Johnson County, KS to Leonard and Nellie Rothganger. She married Wilford “Bill” Chambers in 1948 and they were married for 68 years. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Nellie Jones, Mary Ann Couch, and Ruth Elliott, and her brother Leonard. She is survived by her brothers Fred, Aaron, Paul, and Don Rothganger, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and beloved friends. She traveled many years alongside her husband for his job and helped farm for many years by driving tractors with wheels taller than her small stature.

Martha loved to travel, learn history, complete puzzles and was an avid reader. What brought her the most joy was spending time with her family. She was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She was known for her sweet smile, her generosity, and kindness. Martha was a member of Overland Park First Assembly of God church for over 75 years. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and was looking forward to her eternal reward.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 8th at Overland Park Assembly of God at 7700 W. 75th, Overland Park, KS. Memorial Contributions can be made to Assemblies of God World Missions.
