Martha Johnson

Martha Jane Johnson, 61, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born on November 27th, 1955 in Albuquerque New Mexico to Alyce and Max Greer.
She grew up in Overland Park KS, graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School and then attended both the University of Arizona in Tucson AZ and University of Kansas in Lawrence KS.
In August 1979, Martha married the love of her life, Michael Johnson and soon after had two beautiful children, Michael Jr., (age 36) and Lindsay, (age 35). Her children and husband were her world.
Martha suffered from several chronic illnesses for over 40 years but that never slowed her down. She was always involved with her children’s sports, schools, and friends, activities…everything. Family was her everything.
Even with her illness, Martha made sure that her family and friends were always taken care of first.
In 2011, Martha’s long time wish came through with the birth of the first grandson, Cooper. Her love for Cooper was something beyond measure. They would both light up at the sight of each other and Martha made sure she saw and played with him every week of her life.
In December of 2016, she was beyond thrilled by finding out that Michael Jr and his wife Priya would soon be welcoming a second blessing of a granddaughter, Isla Rani, due in July.
The last few days of her life was focused on living long enough just to hold her precious granddaughter, but we all know she will be there in spirit and hold Isla in her arms.
She learned years ago that Yoga, faith, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle improved her way of life and she practiced it daily. She shared these passions and love with everyone she met.
She was the strongest, most courageous, spiritual, and loving woman that God blessed the earth to have for way too short of a time.
Even though her family grieves and will miss her dearly, we know our Angel is no longer in suffering with pain and fighting with illness.
She is finally at peace.
Martha is survived by her husband, Michael Johnson; son Michael Johnson, JR (Priya) of Overland Park; daughter, Lindsay Johnson of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Cooper Simmons of Kansas City, MO; older brother, Max Greer (Polina) of Leawood, KS; and mother-in-law, Edna Johnson of Kansas City, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Max W. and Alyce G. Greer; her brother, Mark Greer; and her father-in-law, Robert Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 5,10-11AM, service at 11AM, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. A private graveside service will follow for the immediate family.
