Mrs. Mary Burden

MARY LOUISE BURDEN
Mary L. Burden, 85, passed away on September 8, 2010 at the Sweet Life Facility, Overland Park, Kansas. Mary was born in Salina, KS, the daughter of Lewis and Margaret Carl. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1947 and went to work for the Gas Service Co. in Wichita. Mary was married to Rex Burden in January of 1950. They then moved to Garden City, KS. She was a homemaker, worked with the Girl Scouts, volunteered at the library and Bells of St. Catherine. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and foreign travel. Because of declining health they moved to Overland Park to be near Betsy and family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Betsy; son-in-law, Tom; grandchildren, Meghan and Brandon; and two great grandchildren, Madison and Jackson.
There will be a memorial service in the Wesley Chapel at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kansas on September 13, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Odyseey Hospice, 800 E. 101st Ter., Kansas City, MO 64131 or Lee Richardson Zoo, 405 S. 4th, Garden City, KS 67846.
