Mary Louise (Gennette) Farney, 74, Roeland Park, passed away Thursday, April 17th at home. Funeral services were held, Sunday, April 20th, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
Mary Lou was born September 6, 1933 and grew up in Kansas City, graduating from Bishop Ward High School in 1951. She married Benjamin Farney at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Kansas City, Kansas on March 3rd, 1957. She was a homemaker for many years, raising 5 children. She returned to work at Johnson County Bank in 1982, retiring in 2005.
Mary loved her children and grandchildren and took great pleasure in having everyone over for her delicious and elegant holiday dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lillian and Aldamore Gennette and her sister, Suzanne Williams.
Survivors include; brother, Robert and Barbara Gennette of Florida; children, Jeannette Farney of Lawrence, Benjamin Jr. and Virginia Farney of Prairie Village, Bradley and Ileana Farney of Overland Park, Robert and Kati Farney of Olathe, and Shawn and Jennifer Saia of Olathe; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Leanna, Benjamin, Grace, Nicholas, Carly, Kohlton, Madylien, and Harper; great-grandchild, Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
