Mary Frances Deckwa Pippert, of Overland Park, went to be with her Heavenly Father November 9, 2023, following a lengthy and progressive illness with dementia.
She was born Mary Frances Deckwa to Wesley and Alberta Deckwa on July 20, 1936, in Clearfield, Kansas. She was the third of four daughters. She met her future husband, Ronald Pippert, when her family moved to Lawrence. Both were active in the Evangelical United Brethren church, which later became Central United Methodist following a merger with the Methodist church in 1968. They were wed on June 9, 1962, in the church and were married 61 years.
Son Robert Charles (Bob) was born in 1965 and attended Brookridge Elementary School. John Michael was born in 1967 and joined Bob in attending Brookridge. Both were in Cub Scouts and Mary was their Den Mother.
Mary and Ron lived in Overland Park all their married life and were members of Meyer Boulevard United Methodist church until 1977 when they moved to the Stanley community and became charter members of the Presbyterian Church of Stanley, now Village on Antioch, where Mary served twelve years as church secretary. Most recently they were members of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.
Mary is survived by her husband Ronald of Overland Park; sister Dorothy Mae Douglas of Overland Park; son John Pippert of Overland Park; son Robert (Bob) Pippert and his wife Karen of Monument, CO; and three grandchildren: Matthew Pippert and his wife Hannah of Lawrence, KS; Brenna Pippert of Monument, CO; and Jessica Hunt and her husband, Zachary of Boise, ID. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her.
In death, Mary was preceded by her parents Wesley and Alberta Deckwa, and sisters Margaret Cormack and Dolores Kalb.
