Elizabeth Graham entered eternal rest Friday, July 29, 2011 at age 105. She was born in York, PA, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Eyster) Helfrich. Her husband, two brothers, and three sisters predeceased her. Elizabeth graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Lancaster, PA in 1923 and Magna Cum Laude in classical studies from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN in 1928. Her husband, J. Robert Graham was a graduate of Notre Dame in Civil Engineering. They met at Notre Dame and were married in York, PA in 1929. Elizabeth moved to Overland Park, KS in 1988 and eventually to The Forum in 2000 where she lived independently until her death. She was a talented musician who played the harp professionally. Elizabeth had many talents, interests and playing bridge was a favorite pastime. Her sons, James (Marlene) Overland Park, Thomas (Mary) Evanston, IL and daughter Carol Moran (Justin) Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grand children survive her. A Memorial Mass will be held at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, August 11th at 10 am. Interment will be at a later date in York, PA next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial be made in her honor to The Catholic Woman’s Club of York Scholarship Fund, PO. Box 7148 York, PA 17404. She was the second president.
