Mary L. Irish, 82, Leawood, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 from complications due to dementia & cancer. There will be a visitation on June 25 at 1:00 P.M. with a memorial to follow at 2:00 P.M. Both to be held at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Chapel, 9300 Nall Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. On Thursday, June 28 she will be laid to rest at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.
Mary was born August 7, 1929 in Fair Grove, Missouri and moved to Springfield, Missouri at a young age. After graduating from Springfield High School in 1947 she attended Southwest Missouri State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
She met Jack Irish, her future husband, while attending college and they were married in 1949. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, daughter Pam, Wichita, Kansas: sister, Ellen, Waukee Iowa: one niece and three nephews. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Ramey of Springfield, Missouri preceded her in death.
Mary loved to play bridge, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing golf and traveling. For many years she did volunteer work at a local hospital and at her church in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. In 1991 upon returning to the Kansas City area she continued her passions for many more years.
