Mary Beth McClain, 61, passed away and heaven got a little classier on Monday, September 8, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family, in Leawood, KS.
Mary was born September 10, 1952, in Topeka, KS, to William and Mae Arlene (Biermann) Alcorn. She graduated in 1970 from Hoover High School, in Des Moines. Mary married her high school sweetheart, Mike McClain, on September 18, 1971. She worked at Mack McClain & Associates for 25 years. Mary enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family at Table Rock Lake. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Marcy.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Mike McClain; two children, Joe (Liz) McClain and Gina (Jamey) Shibel; five grandchildren, Jackson, Mackenzie, Evan, Grace, and Sam; three sisters, Karen Howe, Kathy Lyon, and Jane Gilchrist; sister-in-law and best friend, Debie Iverson; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. An interment will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Johnson County Chapel.
