On Monday, October 26, 2020, Mrs. Mary Azam Modaress, mother of Nellie (Niloufar), and Magnolia Modaress, passed away at the age of 76.
Mrs. Modaress was born on August 27, 1944, in Esfahan, Iran, and migrated to the US in 1978 with her husband, Dr. Mike Modaress, and two daughters. Together, they left a successful life in Iran and built another in Kansas, where the pair took turns pursuing their degrees while raising two young children. Mrs. Modaress had talent in the arts with drawing and oil painting, where her hand at learning to play the guitar as they transitioned to an empty nest.
What was not questioned about their lives were the love and admiration for one another. The pair spent their lives together almost inseparable from the start.
The traditional vows of being together in sickness and health until death do you part were taken literally by this couple. Dr. Mike Modaress passed away February 18, 2020, and Mary Modaress joined him on his birthday on October 26, 2020. It was an honor to have parents whose love for one another was deep and everlasting.
Mrs. Modaress was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and husband. She survives by their children, Magnolia and Nellie, Mark Manochehr Kasaei, their son-in-law, granddaughters, Kayla and Sarah, and a sister with nieces and nephews. A private ceremony for close family and friends will be held at the burial site to celebrate her life on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, at 3:00 pm.
