Mary Catherine (Duggins) Ost passed away peacefully on January 29, 2010. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mary Catherine was married to Richard J. Ost on October 7, 1950 in Holy Cross Church in Kansas City. She is survived by two daughters: Rose Anne Ost of Colorado Springs and Catherine Kirkland (Hamilton) of Lenexa KS; three sons: Stephen of Roeland Park KS, Edward (Sheila) of Overland Park KS and Paul (Will) of Aurora CO, daughter-in-law Lisa Ost-Beikmann, Linn KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Richard, a daughter, Theresa, and a son, Thomas. Mary is also survived by a sister Margaret Duggins of Phoenix and a brother, Donald (Jo Ann) of Mission KS. She is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law: Jack and Genevieve Ost, Pat Daniels Ost, Pat and Frank Regan, and Mark and Carol Ost. Surviving are eight grandchildren: Matthew and Alex Kirkland, Natalie and Nicole Ost, Rachel and Jacob Ost, and Nicholas and Samantha Ost. Mary’s family was her primary focus, but she always made time to help the community. She was very involved with volunteer work since moving to Colorado Springs in 1981; including 20 years at the Olympic Training Center, and over 10 years at the Rock Ledge Ranch. She also volunteered at a soup kitchen and many other activities at Corpus Christi Church. She enjoyed meeting and talking to people, especially the young ones. Mary was very proud of her Irish heritage and she treasured the trip she was able to take to Ireland several years ago. She touched many lives with her beautiful smile, kind heart and quick sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 9AM to 10AM, Thursday, February 4 with a prayer service following at 10AM at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Graveside services will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri. Mary loved flowers, but the family suggests donations to Evercare Hospice, 5450 Tech Center Drive, Colorado Springs CO 80919.
