Mrs. Mary Schrameck

Mary Ellen Schrameck departed this life on April 30, 2010. Ellen was born on December 30, 1914 to Fred and Mary Boyd. She grew up in Edwardsville, IL, and on July 3, 1937 was married to Paul Schrameck. In 1941, they moved to Mexico, MO where they spent their married life. Before retirement, she spent numerous years nursing at Audrain Hospital, and also cared for many in their homes. In 1998, she moved to Overland Park, KS to be with her daughter, Pat and her husband, Ken Zagnoni.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1984; her son, Jerry Schrameck in 1990; daughter-in-law, Rosetta Schrameck in 1988; son-in-law, David Stanberry in 1977; and two brothers, James and Harry Boyd.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Villa St. Francis where she had been a resident for the past three years, as well as Grace Hospice for their support.
Ellen was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Mexico, MO and a woman of great faith – a faith that never wavered.
Her long time motto was “Smile and the world smiles with you. Cry and you cry alone.” She never stopped smiling and was known at Villa St. Francis for brightening the day with the singing of her many songs.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Ken) Zagnoni, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Clark, Overland Park, KS, Stephen (Cheryl) Stanberry, Independence, Jeffrey Stanberry, Long Beach, CA and Christopher (Deborah) Schrameck, LaQuinta, CA; great grandchildren, Tyler and Chandler Clark and Bethany and Christina Stanberry; and nephew, Charles (Carol) Boyd, New Canadian, OK.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS on Friday, May 7th at 1:00 P.M. Mass and burial will be at a later date in Mexico, MO.
