Mary Corine Duckett Wise, a resident of Aberdeen Village, Olathe, KS was born September 20, 1918, in Lamar, MO to Pearl E. Faubion Duckett and Dr. Claude E. Duckett , and passed away on October 31, 2015 . She graduated from Lamar High School in 1936 and KU School of Nursing in 1941. At KU Hospital she met George W. Wise, a medical student, who later practiced pediatrics in Kansas City. Their marriage in 1942 marked the beginning of a treasured romance. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Thomas Duckett, husband, Dr. George Wise, sister, Gertrude Allene Isbell and grandson, Bruce Tulloch. Corine is survived by her sister, Helen Nadine (Jane) Campbell, Lawrence, children and their spouses: Judy Frey (Rev John), Shawnee; Dr. James Wise (Carody), Lake Quivira; Jane Yourdon, Wichita, her grandchildren: Dr. John Tulloch (Megan) Tulsa, OK; Jim Frazey, Las Vegas, NV; George Frazey, Wichita; Cara Price, Westwood; Benjamin Wise, Mission; Sally Pattison (Joe), Prairie Village, and great grandchildren Bailey Tulloch, Houston, TX and Jack Tulloch, Tulsa, OK, many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted volunteer, serving at Children’s Mercy Hospital, KU Hospital, the Red Cross, the Visiting Nurses Association as board member, the PTA, and was a leader for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was an active member of Village Presbyterian Church (since 1952) and of PEO Chapter GZ. Corine and George knew happy times with their special circle of lifelong friends playing cards, camping, fishing, and hiking in Colorado and Rockbridge, AK. In their home there was always room at the table to receive the blessings of good food, stimulating conversation, and a measure of encouragement. Corine (Nana), a student of history and crossword puzzles, was the heart of the family. She was integral to the lives of her loved ones whom she nurtured, protected, and assured—each one—“I always loved you best.” She will be missed and cherished for her generous and abiding love. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the residents and staff of Aberdeen Village, Kansas City Hospice and Senior Bridge for their love and support. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm Friday at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Aberdeen Village Chapel, 17500 W. 119th St, Olathe, KS. The family requests no flowers.
