Matthew Wayne Larson, 30, of Lawrence, KS unexpectedly passed away on Friday, July 31st, 2020.
A small, private service will be held for close family and friends Saturday August 8, 2020 at Johnson County Funeral Home with Pastor Susan Langhauser of Advent Lutheran Church, officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later determined date for all friends and family to come together for Matthew.
Matthew was born in Kansas City, MO to Kevin and Carolyn Larson on April 25th, 1990. He graduated from Olathe East High School in Olathe, KS. He attended University of Kansas where he played bass on the drumline. He worked for Superior Printing in Lawrence, KS as an Operation & Prepress Manager for 7 years with his closest friends. Matthew earned his Eagle Scout in 2008. He was a member of Gardner Masonic Lodge and Abdallah Shrine with his father; a member of Advent Lutheran Church; he also enjoyed being a part of the Lawrence Car Club with his beloved, blue Subaru Impreza.
Matthew will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and friend to many. Matthew was very involved in his high school music program as a percussionist that allowed him to travel to Hawaii, continuing at KU and played in the band for the Orange Bowl. He was everyone’s go-to tech expert; he loved anything technology and gadget related and built his own computers. Matthew could talk sports with anyone and had a memory for all the latest stats; he loved anything LA Lakers and KC Chiefs. Family and friends will remember Matthew as an easy-going, funny and kind man who touched many of our hearts.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfather Lowell Larson and grandfather Thomas Filmore.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Kevin and Carolyn Larson; his sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Jerad Carson; his grandmothers’, Delores Larson and Jane Filmore; his many aunts and uncles, Deone and Stan Petersen, Joe and LeeAnn Blazen, Bill and Angelia Filmore, Michael and Laura Filmore, Ryan and Christy Filmore, Scott and Emily Filmore; his cousins, Chris Blazen, William Filmore, Ray Filmore, Tyler Filmore, Andrew Filmore, Teddy Filmore, Riley Filmore, Ragan Filmore and Sage FIlmore.
In lieu of flowers; the family requests donations be sent to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Matthew’s name.
