Maureta Patterson

Maureta Jean (Brown) Patterson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 after a long illness.

She was born to Arthur & Winnie Brown in Buffville, Kansas on November 10, 1925 and was raised in Neodesha, Kansas. She received her B.A. in Education from Pittsburg State Teachers College in 1948 and taught elementary school in Independence, Kansas before returning to Neodesha, where she met and married her husband of 50 years, John H. ?Jack? Patterson, who preceded her in death in 2002. They subsequently moved to Bloomington, Minnesota before settling in Prairie Village, Kansas in 1962, which they fondly called ?home? thereafter.

A devoted wife, loving parent and doting grandmother, Maureta leaves twin sons and their wives, Mike & Paula Patterson (of Overland Park) and Patrick & Barbie Patterson (of Leawood); plus six grandchildren (John, Michelle, Andrew, Matthew, Christopher, and Anne); and countless friends ? all of whom will miss her deeply.

A brief funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, with private burial to follow.

The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions in Maureta?s name be made to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
