Maurine Harvey Fate Passed away peacefully on September 5, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home, Sabetha, KS. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on September 9, 2016 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Family will receive friends at 1:30 PM Friday, September 9th with memorial services following at 2:30 PM. Private Interment services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorials to Roeland Park United Methodist Church, 5100 Cedar, Roeland Park, KS 66205 or charity of your choice.
Maurine was born to Will and Iona Manglesdorf on November 23, 1915 in Lawrence, Ks. The family moved to Johnson County in 1923 ad she was proud to have lived there most of her life. She married Robert C. (Chet) Harvey and had 2 sons, Robert C., Jr. and Steven L. Harvey. After the death of Robert C. (Chet) Harvey in 1970, she later married Jack S. Fate who also preceded her in death in 1999.
She loved traveling, playing bridge, fishing, and being with family and friends. Maurine was an active member of Roeland Park United Methodist Church all her life. She was a life member of the K. C. Athenaeum and was involved in many philanthropic projects and volunteered in many organizations.
Maurine was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She adored her Great Grand children. She felt blessed to have two loving families, many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Helen Hansen, Charlotte Krause, and Ruth Roberts.
Maurine is survived by son, Steven L. Harvey, and his wife Vonnie Harvey, Sabetha, Ks. Daughter-in-law Beverly Harvey, Belleville, IL. Step sons Weldon Fate and wife Michele Ann, O.P, Ks, Don Fate, Columbus, Ohio, Michael Fate and wife Susan, Mission Hills, Ks. and step daughter Sharon Fate and husband Dr. Henry Bishop, Fairway. Grandchildren: Robert C (Trey) Harvey (Eliana) Greg Harvey, Kelly Pitcher (Jeff) and Steven L Harvey Jr ( Kati), and 29 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
