BETTY MAXINE (WOOLARD) MOORE

MOORE Remembrance - Passing Date April 22, 2010 Betty Moore, 84, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at the D.W. Newcomers Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. The family will welcome friends and relatives prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at 159th and Antioch immediately following the memorial service. Betty was born in Olathe, Kan., on December 11, 1925, to Jesse Lee and Lillie Elizabeth (Weiss) Woolard, and lived in the Johnson County area her entire life. She attended Olathe Senior High School and the University of Kansas. She taught elementary school in Johnson County for several years before marrying Joseph Dean Moore and moving to Overland Park February 21, 1953. Betty loved her church, Countryside Christian Church, and was active in her women's Bible circle. In addition, Betty worked in the Nall Avenue Baptist Church child care program until her health prevented her from participating a few years ago. Betty was a sensitive and loving person who always wanted to please her family and her friends. She was very fond of those who helped her, particularly the staff at Trinity, where she lived the last two and a half years of her life. She was a devoted mother to her only son, Curtis Dean. She and her husband loved to travel and share their experiences with friends and family. She will always be remembered for her artistic gift wrapping skills, as the Christmas and birthday presents she wrapped were always "works of art". Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on June 17, 1998, and her parents. She is survived by her son, Curtis Dean Moore, and her daughter-in-law Anna Amayo Moore of Lisle, Ill.; her grandson Mason Dean Moore of Lisle, Ill.: her brother Jerry L. Woolard and sister-in-law Antoinette "Toni" Woolard of Lake Quivira, Kan. The family suggests memorial donations to Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall, Mission, KS 66202 in lieu of flowers.
