Melba "Jean" Messing, 85, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Jean was born April 20, 1928, in Inavale, NE. She graduated from Torrington Wyoming High School in 1946. Jean moved to Hastings, NE in 1947 and married Eugene Messing in May of 1948. She worked for the Jones Store at Metcalf South for 23 years. She was a member of The Church of the Nativity.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy and granddaughter, Erin Kay.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Eugene; three children, Ken (Pat) Messing, Kathy (Mike) Stockman and Kevin (Marla) Messing; nine grandchildren, Matt, Brenda, Travis, Jeannie, Brian, Cory, Megan, Seth and Sofie; and five great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Church of the Nativity, 3800 W 119th Street, Leawood, KS 66209. A private family burial will follow at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Wea, KS.
