Mr. Melvin Hild
January 30, 1919 — January 27, 2010
Melvin O. Hild, 90, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church, 20200 Mission Road, Stilwell, KS. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services. Entombment will be held at 1:30 pm at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Odyssey Hospice or the Bethany Lutheran Church.
Melvin was born January 30, 1919 in Leigh, Nebraska to Oscar & Anna Hild. He moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1935. He graduated from high school in 1939. Melvin was drafted in the service from June 1941 – October 1945 and his service time was spent in the South Pacific. In August of 1942 Melvin married Betty Miller. Melvin and Betty moved to Overland Park in 2001.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Betty, daughter Nancy Keller of Leawood, KS, grandson Bryan Keller & wife Diana of Gardner, KS, granddaughter Traci Putnam & husband Durk of Overland Park, KS, grandson Jeffrey Keller & wife Laura of Overland Park, KS, great grandchildren: J.D. Putnam, Broc Putnam, Olivia Keller and Cole Keller.
