Melvin A. ?Lou? Lewis, 65, Spring Hill, KS passed away April 14, 2008 at home after a brief battle with cancer.
Lou was born on Sept. 18, 1942 in Chicago and was married to Cheryl A. Lewis for 44 years. A veteran, Lou served in the Air Force from 1962-1965. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2006 after 40 years of service. He was active with the youth group at Old Mission UMC as a Group Workcamp site coordinator teaching youth how to repair houses across the U.S. He also participated in Christmas in October. He believed using his skills to help others was his calling. An avid fisher, Lou enjoyed time outdoors and was the 2002 national champion crappie fisherman.
Survivors include: wife, Cheryl A. Lewis, a daughter, Shelle Lewis, a son-in-law Brian Muirhead, a son, Todd Lewis, a daughter-in-law, Kelly Lewis and five grandchildren, Jessica Muirhead, Holley Lewis, Hannah Lewis, David Muirhead and Mallory Lewis.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 17 at Old Mission United Methodist Church located on Shawnee Mission Pkwy at Mission Road. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday., April 16 at the church.
