Merrill August Miller, age 97, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023, surrounded by family. Merrill was born August 30, 1925, in Burt, Iowa, to Alex and Selma Miller.
Merrill served in the US Army during WWII (1944-1946). He attended Golden Gate College, graduating with a bachelor degree in Business Administration. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Prairie Village, Kansas up until his retirement. He was a member of the Abdallah Shriners and a devoted member of the YMCA of Prairie Village, Kansas, until his death.
He married Loraine Frances Steven on April 5, 1953. They celebrated 43 years together before Loraine’s passing in 1996. Merrill was fortunate to find a companion in Charlotte Bradbury. The two married on November 13, 2006.
Merrill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lydia Clark of Hollywood, Florida.
He is survived by his wife: Charlotte Bradbury; daughters: Susan (Susie)Wolfert of Overland Park, Kansas, Linda Wilson (Andrew) of Chesterfield, Missouri, Janice Schuppert of Kansas City, Missouri and Nancy Shields (David) of Leawood, Kansas. He was blessed with the following Grandchildren: Jennifer Lumley, Charles Wilson, Spencer Kraft (Annie), Joseph Wilson (Wan), Sabrina Neal, Kelly Weyer (Phil), Jeff Wolfert (Nikki), Julie Wolfert, Tyler Schuppert, Jamie Schuppert, Kristin Schuppert, Erin Shields and Avery Shields. His legacy continues with his 13 Great Grandchildren and his numerous nieces and nephews.
His service is Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. Visitation 9:00am – 10am and burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations made to the Prairie Village YMCA located at 4200 W. 79th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
