Meveline "Mev" Boswell passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, at 5:57 a.m. at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park, KS.
Mev was born Oct. 19, 1924 in Osawatomie, KS. She married Ray Edward Boswell on Nov. 14, 1948, in Lawrence, KS. During their 64 years together the couple lived in Overland Park, KS, Topeka, KS, Spokane, WA, Portland, OR, and Prairie Village, KS. Mev worked for the University of Kansas Medical Center Credit Union for 25 years before retiring in 1985. In her younger years, she also worked for Lawrence National Bank and Sunflower Ordinance Works.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Saunders, and sister, Eloise Russell.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Edward Boswell of Prairie Village, KS; two sons, Bradley Edward (Patricia) Boswell of Lenexa, KS, and Jeffrey Alan Boswell of Portland, OR; and two grandsons, Marshall Boswell of Blue Springs, MO, and Benjamin (Tanille) Boswell of Gardner, KS. Also surviving Mev are brothers-in-law, James Russell of Jefferson City, MO, James Sanders of Mission, KS, and sisters-in-law, Edith Klopfenstein of Moore, OK, and Nancy Boswell of Lawrence, KS, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mev was a strong family person and intensely devoted to her sons and grandsons. A dog lover, she adopted several rescue dogs during her lifetime. She also liked collecting owl figurines and images. Politics and Kansas Jayhawks basketball were two of her favorite passions.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Shawnee Mission Medical Center for their kindness and attentiveness during Mev's final days.
The life of Meveline Boswell will be celebrated in a memorial service at 2 pm on Monday, Feb. 18, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.
